Maple.Community Privacy Statement

Effective 7 September 2026

Maple.Community is a community website for MapleStory Classic World players.

This statement explains what personal information Maple.Community collects, why we collect it, how it is used and shared, and the choices you have about your information.

Maple.Community is operated from New Zealand. The site's primary hosting and database infrastructure is located in Sydney, Australia. Maple.Community is available to users internationally, and some of the service providers we use may process information in other countries.

Signing in with Discord

Maple.Community uses Discord to create and identify user accounts.

When you sign in, Discord provides us with information such as your Discord user ID, username, display name, avatar, and your membership and roles in the MapleStory Classic World Discord server.

We use this information to:

  • identify and maintain your Maple.Community account;
  • display your profile;
  • confirm that you can use the site;
  • assign permissions and site roles;
  • connect Maple.Community features with Discord;
  • support moderation and community administration.

We do not receive or store your Discord password.

Discord authentication information is used as needed to complete the sign-in process. Discord access tokens used during sign-in are not stored in the Maple.Community database.

Discord sign-in is required to create a Maple.Community account. If you choose not to sign in with Discord, you can still access public parts of the site but cannot use features that require an account.

Your Maple.Community account

We keep information needed to operate your account. This may include:

  • your Discord account details;
  • your optional in-game name (IGN);
  • your avatar;
  • your fame score;
  • notification preferences;
  • profile settings;
  • site roles and permissions;
  • account creation and update information.

Some information, such as your IGN and notification preferences, is optional.

When you sign in, Maple.Community creates a secure session so the site can recognise you while you are logged in. A secure HTTP-only cookie is used for this purpose.

Temporary authentication records may also be created during the Discord sign-in process. These records expire and are removed when they are no longer needed.

Information you add to Maple.Community

We store information you provide when using the site's features.

For market and trading features, this may include store and listing details, item information, quantities, prices, screenshots, bids, comments, sale history, contact requests, listing status, fame ratings and related activity.

For Community Posts and polls, this may include posts, comments, replies, categories, votes and poll responses.

The site may also record whether a signed-in account has been shown certain Community Posts. This information is used to support ranking and discovery features and help give posts a reasonable opportunity to be seen.

For guild and social features, this may include guild profiles, descriptions, emblems, recruitment information, guild membership, applications, application messages, guild posts, profile comments and friend connections.

Administrators may also create and manage articles and other official site content.

Most of this information is only collected when you choose to use the relevant feature.

Moderation, transactions and history

Some information may need to be retained to moderate Maple.Community, investigate disputes, prevent abuse and preserve the integrity of trading and discussions.

This may include records relating to:

  • auctions and transactions;
  • fame ratings and reasons;
  • withdrawn or removed bids;
  • moderation actions;
  • hidden or removed content;
  • account or listing information relevant to a dispute.

Content that has been hidden or removed from public view may therefore remain in our records.

Closing or deleting a store, wanted listing, auction, Community Post or other content does not necessarily remove every record associated with it.

Site operations and Discord notifications

Maple.Community keeps limited operational information needed to run automated features.

For example, when the site publishes something to Discord or sends a notification, we may keep information about what was sent, who or what it related to, whether delivery succeeded, and whether another attempt is required.

We may also keep Discord message or thread identifiers where needed to update, manage or archive content published by the Maple.Community bot.

This information is used to operate and troubleshoot Maple.Community.

Hosting, technical information and analytics

Maple.Community's primary website, application and database infrastructure is hosted in Sydney, Australia.

When you access the site, Maple.Community and the service providers that operate its infrastructure may process standard technical information such as:

  • your IP address;
  • browser and device information;
  • requested pages and resources;
  • request and error information;
  • approximate location derived from your IP address;
  • dates and times of requests.

This information may be processed in server, security or infrastructure logs even where it is not stored as part of your Maple.Community account.

Maple.Community also uses Vercel Analytics to understand site traffic and how features are being used. This helps us identify problems, understand general usage and improve the site.

The companies that provide hosting, analytics, authentication and other infrastructure services may process information in countries other than your own.

How we use information

We use information collected through Maple.Community to:

  • operate user accounts and sign-in sessions;
  • provide market, auction, polling, guild, community and social features;
  • display profiles and user-created content;
  • operate ranking and discovery features;
  • provide Discord integrations and requested notifications;
  • manage permissions and access;
  • prevent spam, fraud and abuse;
  • moderate the community;
  • investigate disputes;
  • maintain the security and reliability of the service;
  • diagnose technical problems;
  • understand how Maple.Community is being used and improve it.

We do not sell personal information.

We do not use personal information collected through Maple.Community for third-party advertising profiles.

What other people can see

Maple.Community is a community website, so some information is intended to be public.

Depending on the features you use, other people may be able to see information such as your:

  • Discord username or display name;
  • avatar;
  • optional IGN;
  • fame;
  • guild;
  • stores and listings;
  • auctions;
  • Community Posts;
  • comments and replies;
  • other content you choose to publish.

Guild profiles, market information, polls and some site activity totals may also be publicly visible.

Information that you make public may be copied, indexed, archived or shared by other people or services outside Maple.Community. Removing information from Maple.Community cannot necessarily remove copies that have already been made elsewhere.

Private information such as guild application messages, account permissions, authentication information and internal operational records is limited to the users, administrators and systems that need access to it.

When information is shared

We share information with Discord when necessary to provide Discord-connected features.

For example, this may happen when:

  • you sign in;
  • the Maple.Community bot publishes or updates content;
  • a Discord thread or message is created or updated;
  • a Discord member is mentioned;
  • a role is assigned;
  • you request a Discord notification or direct message.

Information is also processed by the service providers used to host and operate Maple.Community, including providers responsible for hosting, databases, authentication, infrastructure and analytics.

These providers may operate in countries different from both Maple.Community's operator and the user accessing the site.

We may also disclose information where reasonably necessary to comply with applicable law, respond to lawful requests, protect Maple.Community or its users, investigate fraud or abuse, respond to security incidents, or enforce community rules.

How long we keep information

We do not apply one fixed retention period to every type of information.

Temporary authentication records and login sessions expire and are removed when they are no longer required.

Other information may be retained for as long as reasonably necessary to:

  • operate Maple.Community;
  • preserve community or transaction history;
  • maintain the integrity of discussions;
  • moderate the community;
  • resolve disputes;
  • prevent fraud or abuse;
  • maintain security;
  • meet applicable legal obligations.

Deleting or closing content does not necessarily delete every record connected with it. Moderation, transaction, security or audit records may sometimes need to remain after the original content is no longer publicly available.

Your choices and privacy requests

You can change certain information through your Maple.Community account settings, including your optional IGN, notification preferences and profile comment settings.

You can sign out at any time to end your current Maple.Community session.

You may also contact the Maple.Community administrators to:

  • ask what personal information we hold about you;
  • request access to that information;
  • ask us to correct inaccurate information;
  • request deletion of information associated with your account;
  • raise a question or concern about how your information is being handled.

Requests will be considered in accordance with applicable privacy laws.

Some information may need to be retained despite a deletion request where reasonably necessary for moderation, security, transaction history, dispute resolution, fraud prevention or legal obligations.

Depending on where you live, you may have additional privacy rights under the laws that apply to you.

Security

We use reasonable technical and administrative measures intended to protect Maple.Community and the information it holds.

These include secure authentication practices, protected session cookies, restricted access to administrative features and security controls provided by our infrastructure providers.

No website or online service can guarantee complete security.

Age requirements

Maple.Community is intended for a general MapleStory community audience and is not directed specifically at children under 13.

You must meet Discord's minimum age requirements and any higher minimum age required where you live to create a Maple.Community account.

If we become aware that an account belongs to someone who is not permitted to use the service because of their age, we may remove the account and associated personal information where appropriate.

A parent or guardian who believes that Maple.Community has collected personal information from a child who should not be using the service should contact the administrators.

Changes to this statement

We may update this privacy statement as Maple.Community changes, new features are introduced, service providers change, or legal requirements change.

When material changes are made, the effective date at the top of this statement will be updated.
