Nexon Strikes Back
Hello Maplers
As most of you have heard, Nexon has finally taken steps to combat the degeneracy that was taking place within Early Access.
The RMT Side
On 10/15/26 Nexon choose violence and dropped the hammer on 1168 Maplestory accounts. The listed explanation was originally for "Hacking" which caused many whom who were banned to believe they had been incorrectly banned and essentially expose themselves. But, they were in for a rude awakening. Within the hour Nexon promptly updated the bans and issued a response to the community clearing up the air that the bans were not hacking but rather for engaging in Real Money Trading (RMT) These accounts appear to all be Buyers not sellers as they have only been issued a 7-day ban (10/23/26) and will be able to return after the period has ended.
It is unknown at this time if the buyers who were banned will have their ill gotten gains wiped.
Furthermore accounts related to selling mesos have also been banned but their specific numbers are unknown at this time as they've been lumped into the same category as all botters.
A 48 hour trade block has been added to accounts following an accounts first NX purchase.
Megaphones of all type(s) have had the minimum level to use increased from level 10 to level 15.
The abnormal side
This mostly ties into the RMT side but as of 10/15/26 Nexon has reported to have taken action against a total of 3814 accounts that engaged in abnormal gameplay. This includes Hackers and Botters alike. Its probably safe to assume that a number of these Bots and Hackers were directly tied to the sale of Mesos. However Nexon made sure to state that not all the bans were permanent. Directly implying that some of these botters were just humans trying to get some extra grind time in after all.
What does this mean?
Short Term
With the removal of a ton of Meso, and more importantly the players who possess said Meso the market has stagnated massively. Most notably the high tier items such as Chat & Label Rings, Scrolls and other wearable NX have completely stopped inflating and a number of those items have even begun to lose value as there's now a Meso bottleneck. However items such as Hair Coupons have been unaffected. Some players have begun to panic and sell items for cheap (do with that info what you will)
Long Term
Honestly probably a load of nothing. Grand Launch will occur on the 21st and with the opening of the floodgates I'm sure bots and RMT sellers will be as brazen as ever. There will once again be a mass influx of Mesos and users looking to get their hands on items which will once again cause the prices to inflate. Nexon will attempt to take action, but with the sheer volume of users and with Nexons limited resources you have to ask the question "Can Nexon efficiently combat the problem?" Let me know in the comments below if you think Nexon can handle it or if they'll fumble the bag!
Thats all for now
